What we teach at Y.K.K.F (India) Dojos?

Yudansha Kobujitsu karate-Doh Federation (India) i.e. Y.K.K.F.(lndia), has been established in the year Oct. 1997 and trains children and adults in Traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate-Do, Judo / Jujitsu, Tai Chi Chuan and Kick Boxing..

We teach traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate along with effective self defense techniques designed to target an attackers weakness . Y.K.K.F. (India) teaches three different aspects of martial arts, namely - physical, intellectual and mental. Along with the physical training we also teach history of Goju Ryu, awareness of other martial arts and Japanese terminology.

Within Y.K.K.F. (India) there are 4 distinct martial arts namely :-

  1. KARATE (OKINAWA GOJU RYU JUNDOKAN) : Intact with a 400 year , traceable lineage, direct from the Supreme Grand Master in Okinawa. People of all ages can perform this health giving art. Ideal for building strength & vitality. We also teach history of Okinawa Goju Ryu,awareness of other martial arts and Japanes terminology.

  2. JUDO / JUJITSU : Judo works out all your muscles and provides excellent aerobic training. Strength, conditioning, co-ordination , balance are also developed. Mental preparation and focus are also trained. Judo promotes both physical and mental health.

    (2) SENSEI YATISH BANGERA (6th DAN BLACK BELT), Directors of Bombay Judo Club.

  3. TAl CHI CHUAN : is an ancient Chinese set of exercises with smooth , slow , elegant and flowing dance like form-of movements , designed to achieve health and tranquility without physical strength , strain , imbalance and any risk of injury. Tai Chi Chuan translated literally means Supreme Ultimate Energy, Force or Fist. Numerous benefits can be achieved and experienced by every one young or old, fit or sick. Tai Chi Chuan three main aspects are Meditation, Movement & Breathing. Tai Chi Chuan relaxes the mind and the body, quiets the nervous system, benefits the heart and blood circulation, cures indigestion, loosens stiff joints, tones up muscles and refreshes the shin.

  4. KICK BOXING & KRAV MAGA (Israeli Combat System) : A popular form of kickboxing is known as aerobic or cardiovascular (cardio) kickboxing, which combines elements of boxing, martial arts & aerobics to provide overall physical conditioning and toning. Unlike other types of kickboxing, cardio kickboxing does not involve physical contact between competitors, it's a cardiovascular workout that's done because of it's many benefits to the body. KRAV MAGA is the official self defense and fighting system used by the Israeli Defense Forces (I.D.F.), Israeli Police and Security Services, and numerous U.S. law enforcement agencies. It was developed in the 1940's by Imi Lichtenfeld, who carefully refined the system during his career as Chief Instructor of Hand to Hand Combat for the Israeli Defense Forces. It teaches people how to save lives and to cope with common street violence.

Hello and Welcome! I am Sensei Jehangir Shroff and I would like to invite you to my martial arts training center. I have dedicated over 28 years of my life to the practice, competition, and research in the martial art. I was certified as a 5th Degree Black Belt in Canada by RON YAMANAKA - 9TH Dan Menkyo Kaiden Saiko Shihan - Founder of Y.K.K.F.(International), who is a direct student of Late Hanshi Eiichi Miyazato, student of Chojun Miyagi Sensei (founder of Goju Ryu style).

Here at the Traditional Martial Arts Centre i.e. ATJMA we offer OKINAWAN GOJU RYU KARATE-DO, Self-defense, Fitness, Judo, Tai Chi Chuan, Kick Boxing and Weapons. Classes are for Adults & Children. Private and group classes are available and WKF Style competition karate. We also offer personal training. Minimum Age 4 and up.

We have introduced Special Self Defence program for women in Mumbai. From a school going girl to a typical housewives or working girl anyone can learn a set of Defensive techniques specially selected and developed by our professionals. Besides all these techniques the part is to prepare the mind to be stable at all situations at all the times. that could be achieved by giving a brief theory. It has been observed that a persons with a strong body and excellent skills fails to defend themselves because their mind stops working in these kind of situations. it is very commonly seen in women. YKKF - India Philosophy


It is the mission of the Yudansha Kobujitsu Karate Doh Federation (India) to provide a positive, family-oriented environment for the study of traditional martial arts. Our martial arts focus is one of practical self-defense & sport. All members are treated with respect; our instructors and students are considered equals.

We teach Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate

Goju Ryu is one of the oldest forms of Karate. In fact, many of the other styles present today are based on Goju Ryu. Its focus is toward practical self-defense.

Goju Ryu Karate is our primary focus at the Y.K.K.F.(India). We also hold classes in Judo, TaiChi Chuan & Kick Boxing.

Our Instructors are Students too!

Our instructors are constantly learning. It is naive to believe that you can know everything. With this in mind, we spend a lot of time training ourselves to become better martial artists and people. We have the opportunity to train in with many high-ranking and very experienced people. What we learn, we pass on to our students.

We Teach More than Just Technique

Technique is not enough. We teach blocks, kicks, and punches, but we teach good sense too: where and when, how and why. We have found that learning karate actually helps to calm individuals and our students are actually involved in fewer fights.

Karate is not a Sport

At least not the way we teach it. We teach common-sense martial arts to serious individuals. Many of our students and some of our instructors do take part in tournaments, but our focus is toward practical self-defense as well as personal health and spiritual development.

Karate is not Magic

There is no mystical force behind success in Karate. Becoming good at Karate is a simple matter of hard work and practice. The ability is in everyone, young and old. We have members of all ages.

All our Instructors are Volunteers

Few of the instructors at the Y.K.K.F.(India) make money from teaching karate. We are all upstanding members of your community who hold day-jobs and teach karate in the evenings strictly out of love of the art and a desire to pass on our teachings to a new generation.

Discipline

We don't train bullies. We teach people karate. The process of learning Karate requires focus and discipline. Many of our students have shown marked improvement in their grades at school, their self-confidence and their attention span. As our students help each other to learn, their interpersonal skills develop.

We don't Beat up Anyone

Some people fear they will be treated harshly in the first months of Karate. Not at our club. Our intention is to teach, not hospitalize. We openly welcome spectators to attend and see for themselves. In fact, we strongly encourage parents, wives, husbands, and friends to watch classes. We push our students to perform to the best of their abilities, we do not injure or abuse them.

TRADITIONAL OKINAWA GOJU RYU KARATE

Goju is one of the 4 major styles of karate as recognised by World Karate Federation. Others being Shoto, Wado, and Shito. Goju literally means hard/soft GO means physical hardness and strength of character; JU is the gentleness which flows from it: RYU means style or school.

Chojun Miyagi (1888-1953) formulated Goju Ryu from NAHA TE in Okinawa from self defence techniques that had come down through centuries from China, he felt that as the karate-ka achieves strength and skill through diligent training and gains physical and mental toughness, he/she also mellows and becomes gentler, more selfless person compared to an incomprehensible universe, all the things known to us such as: people, nations, objects etc, are small and significant. Rather than fighting and opposing everything, one should respect nature and try to attune oneself to universe. GO and JU are opposites but equal. The karate ka strives to achieve a balance between them in his/her life.

KARATE FOR SELF DEFENCE
Karate is one of the most dynamic of all martial arts. The trained karate ka is able to coordinate the mind and body perfectly, thereby enabling him/her to unleash tremendous physical power at will. However, it is not the possession of great strength that makes a great karate ka, rather the ability to co-ordinate the mind and body. Ultimately it is NOT a fighting system one should pursue but a victory over ones mental and physical challenge.

THE VALUE OF KARATE
Modern city life deprives you of the exercise necessary for fitness and mental health. Karate tones the body, develops co-ordination, quickens the reflexes and builds stamina, without danger of harmful injuries. The practice of karate develops composure, a clearer thought process, deeper insight into your mental capabilities, and greater self confidence.

KARATE IS FOR EVERYONE
Children from age of 4, men and women of all ages can take up karate .No previous training is required, whatever your physical condition .If you suffer any medical condition please consult your GP before starting training. The training is carefully scaled to introduce you to this fascinating style of karate. Progress depends entirely upon the individual and not on a group level, therefore you can join at any time and learn at your own pace and capabilities .The motto of our chief instructor JEHANGIR SHROFF (SENSEI) is" Practice … Practice … & Only Practice.

OUR FEDERATION
The YKKF is a fraternal organization of many arts and styles recognizing the intrinsic worth and value of every system. Members of the YKKF understand that martial arts are founded upon universal principles of movement, morality and etiquette. It is in this spirit that all schools of YKKF work in harmony with each other for their mutual advancement and the discovery of the meaning and the ultimate purpose of Budo. Yudansha Kobujitsu Karate-Doh translates as Black Belt Ancient Martial Arts Empty Handed Way.

OUR LINEAGE
Our lineage comes directly from the Late Grandmaster CHOJUN MIYAGI to the Late Grandmaster E’ICHI MIYAZATO through SAIKO SHIHAN RON YAMANAKA who is the founder of the YKKF. Shihan Yamanaka holds some of the highest ranks in the world and is an internationally repected master with 2 generation lineage from Grandmaster Chojun Miyagi and 7 generation lineage from the legendary Shaolin Hung Gar Kun Master Wong Fei Hung.
